You Might Be A Journalism Student If...

You Might Be A Journalism Student If...

While many people would argue that their major is the hardest out there and that others can't possibly understand what they are going through, it's safe to say we all have our fair share of struggles. Coming from the journalism school, I know those struggles a little too well. Here are a few things to get used to if you are considering majoring in journalism or if you have been in the program for a while and are far too used to the lifestyle.

1. If you aren't at home, you are more than likely in a newsroom or out on an interview.

2. Classrooms are flooded with Macs and other Apple products.

Why go to an Apple store when you can walk into a classroom to see all the latest gadgets?

3. B-roll! B-roll! B-roll!

There is never too much B-roll.

4. You go to bed dreaming of SEOs and how to get more views on your blog.

5. Carrying a backpack isn't even a big deal anymore.

It's the 30 pound camera bag, tripod and laptop that is now weighing you down.

6. It seems like no one other than the journalism school reads or watches your news, but you still treat it as if its NBC Nightly News.

7. We all get it, you think journalism is "dying."

We are sick of arguing our points as to how it's evolving and no one will ever understand.

8. Professors complimenting your work honestly will turn your entire week around and make you feel like you're actually doing something right for once.

9. Your entire world is the news, so when people talk about how they don't pay attention to it, it's literally heart wrenching.

10. You never have conversations with new people without trying to think of how to turn them into a story.

11. Constantly explaining to your extended family that just because you say you majored in journalism doesn't mean you are going to anchor the local evening news.

12. You may complain day in and day out about your major, but there is nothing in this world you would rather be doing with your life than spending it with your J-school best friends.

Marshall has an amazing journalism program and the professors treat you as if they are your home away from home parents. Coming here and majoring in this has molded my life into exactly what I dreamed it could be. I'll forever be proud to associate this list with amazing memories.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
