You Know You're From Gilbert, Arizona When...
Phoenix Painting and Dry Wall

Gilbert, Arizona is a cute little farm town in the East Valley of Phoenix. I have lived there my entire life, and could not imagine living anywhere else. While I was in high school, there were many activities that you only did in Gilbert. This is a list of things you know to be true if you have lived in G-Town.

1. You see white picket fences everywhere

You all know the neighborhoods I'm talking about. You know you are in Gilbert when you see those white fences lining the streets. It looks like a scene straight out of "The Truman Show," but it is still pretty cute. Morrison Ranch practically dominates the city of Gilbert, but the neighborhoods are too cute so it is okay.

2. You've been on a date to Top Golf Gilbert

There is no denying this fact. In high school, you definitely went as a group to hit some golf balls at TGOG. However, you were basically in it just to take pictures of you attempting to swing a golf club like you knew what you were doing. Try and deny this. I work there, and I've seen you...trust me.

3. You've climbed the silos

We all know what I'm talking about. You braved the ladder and climbed up to hangout with your friends and look at the stars.

4. Everyone is a photographer

Literally, everyone you know is a photographer. You have never needed to look very far to ask someone to take pictures for you because there's a high school student with a Canon Rebel or Canon 6D ready at your disposal.

5. You took your school dance pictures in four places

The Cosmo Dog Park, The Potato Barn, Downtown Gilbert, and at Nichols Park at Water Ranch. We've all done it. We all went and took pictures there like we were so original.

6. Dutch Bros is a way of life

You know it's a good day when you only see three cars in the drive-thru at Dutch. Ask any girl, she probably has five stamp cards on her at all times. You know all the rebel combinations on the secret menu. Waiting in line for over ten minutes for a drink sounds crazy for some, but a normal Wednesday afternoon at Dutch. Also, you'll be darned if you miss double-stamp Tuesday.

7. You knew Downtown Gilbert before the hipsters took it over

Downtown Gilbert used to be just Joe's BBQ and Oregano's. However, hipsters took over and now it's a cute little urban center. Everyone has an opinion on which food spot is the best. You're only a true Gilbertonian if you've had tacos at Joyride or breakfast at Snooze.

So, if you're looking for a coffee shop to spend a half hour in line at, a city where there's a photographer on every corner, and a downtown area filled with man buns and hipsters, look no further. Come to Gilbert; the cutest white-picket fence city in the East Valley.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
