At my university there is roughly around 4,500 undergraduate students. When I first came here, I really thought this was the biggest it could get when it came to universities. However, that thought quickly fled. Being a second semester freshman has definitely taught me the perks of attending a small college, but it does have it's downsides.
Everyone knows Everyone
Going to such a small school it is not uncommon to see such familiar faces everywhere. You meet someone at a party one night and talk to them for a while, you wake up the next day and see that person everywhere you go. Not only that, but everyone then knows what everyone else is up to. Gossiping is a small campus' thing. Everyone knows everything about you whether you like it or not. But it is a good thing in the aspect of always running into your friends.
People are unavoidable
As hard as you try to avoid that one person or group of people, it's nearly impossible. That one incident or that one night will haunt you because once something happens, you are constantly reminded about it. Sometimes it works out in your favor, but on the occasion that it doesn't, there's no where to hide.
Campus is easy to navigate
Since your campus is so small, getting to point a to point b is almost never a problem. Getting from class to class doesn't take up too much time and nothing is ever too far away. You can have class at 12:15 p.m. and leave at 12:00 p.m. and still make it to class early.
There's never more than 25 people in your classes
This is either very beneficial or very annoying. It is beneficial in the aspect of the professors being able to get to know you personally and create a relationship with you. However, when it comes to that one person in the class that everyone hates, it becomes an issue and you start to wish the class was bigger.
Regardless of all the pros and cons of going to a small college, the most important thing is your happiness. If you're comfortable with where you are, the people you surround yourself with, and what your studying, none of that stuff really matters. In the end the only thing that matters is you and how much you love being at your school.
