Every relationship has its ups and downs it's what you do with them that counts.
Relationships can be tricky. If you have ever been in one, then you know that. They require your time and effort. Not so much your blood, but plenty of sweat and tears. Relationships have to be built on a foundation of some sort.
Most people look at it like a building, if the foundation is strong, then the relationship will be as well. I am here to say maybe that is not the only way to have a solid relationship. There is so much more to a relationship than the initial foundation. The initial foundation may be the base but it is only a starting point. What a person chooses to do from there is what counts.
Relationships are hard when the people involved don't communicate or they do not communicate properly. I know I know there is more than one way to communicate, but the one way you and your partner choose has to be relevant to the both of you. If the communication styles do not work together well in your relationship they might not work at all.
Communication is the way we let one another how we feel. Whether it is with parents, family members, spouses, friends or coworkers, it is all how we live. We as human beings have our own way of viewing things. Unfortunately for us, that means misinterpretation is possible. We have to be able to adjust and adapt to each other to understand what others mean.
What I have learned over recent time in my life is that to communicate is to do more than just talk. Communication does not rely solely on what it is that we as individuals want, especially if we want something from another person. We as humans have gotten so wrapped up in self that we fail to worry about others among us.
In my own personal life I find myself worrying time and time again about what a decision someone else makes means for me. I think about how it affects me and my life. I do not always realize sacrifices that are made or chances that were taken because I am only concerned with myself. Communication with anyone and caring enough to listen to what another person is saying can get rid of that really quickly. When you listen to someone, it takes you beyond anything else.
Communication, for today's generation, is lacking because couples and families are relying heavily on technology to be the basis of the way in which they connect. Hearing the pain or excitement in someone’s voice is something you can not just get from a text message, DM, or email. Seeing someone's face does something for you that pictures can not. They show the little movements that go beyond fake smiles and selfies. In other words visual communication is real.
Face to face conversation is good for every relationship because it provides clarity. You can ask questions and not misinterpret. You can express yourself and be able to explain if the other person looks confused. When you text, you do not know how you're affecting a person. Being hurt does not have one reaction; there are multiples, just like there is plenty of ways to express love.
The only way you will make anything work and know if you're truly affecting someone whether positive or negative is to ask or in other words communicate.
