Do you ever take the time to think back on how people that you once called strangers managed to become so important to you?
I have one of the widest varieties of friends, yet somehow each one of them manages to fit in my life ever so perfectly. You always have those friends who you can clearly understand why you're such good friends. You have similar interests and just sort of clicked from the very beginning. There are also those friends that you have known since you were in grade school. If we're being completely honest, you most likely wouldn't be friends with them if you were to meet them today, but because you've grown up together, that history will always connect the two of you in a way no new friendship can. You then have the friends that you have absolutely no idea how you became so close. Your interests are different, your personalities are nothing alike, yet here they are. I guess this is when the saying "opposites attract" comes into play.
No matter how or why it happened, these people were thrown into your messy life and chose to stay. Whether it will be lifelong or short-lived, every friend plays an important role in some part of your life, whether you realize it or not. I feel like we all have a different friend for every situation we may need. Whether it's a crazy night out, a workout buddy, a study buddy, a church buddy, someone to have deep conversation with or someone who can always put a smile on your face, you have it. No individual can possess every quality that is needed for different stages of your life. That doesn't mean they won't be there for you, it just means the one you have deep conversations with may not always be the one you go out with. A friend is placed in your life for every occasion you may need and I think that is pretty dang cool.
I love my friends. I love how unique every single of them is. I love that each one of my friends brings something new to the table and shows me a side of life that I would never be able to experience on my own. Your friends may not be anyone that you would have ever expected to be friends with but by chance, you are. I don't consider it random or by chance. I consider it fate. I think we often take for granted how incredible the people around us are just because they are given to us in a way. So here's a shout-out to all you crazy, loving, sarcastic, uplifting, unique people that I don't say thank you to often enough. Whether we talk every day or only on occasion, just know that you are awesome.
