I miss Gameboys.

Why You Can't Go Wrong With Classic Technology

Being a kid born in the late '90s, I've been placed in the world right smack in the center of major advancements in technology constantly being introduced and evolved. Each year of our lives, major innovations have happened, and we’ve turned in our simple, classic technology for a more intricate and advanced upgrade. Looking back, I am still not sure if I like the original and classics over the new advancements that are coming out today. For example…

You traded in your PS2 or GameCube for a Wii.

I don’t know, maybe its just me. But there's something about PS2 and GameCube that simply does not go out of style. The controllers especially think were better before. Why fix something that’s not broken? To this day I will still choose GameCube over any Wii, and I think that the old systems have better games, too.

You traded your Gameboy for a Nintendo DS and then for a PSP.

There was a time when Gameboys were the coolest things around, and I honestly love the simple games that I think never got out of style, such as Mario games. The games today are too advanced and too overly animated for me. Remember when talking over pictograph was the coolest thing around? Don’t get me wrong, iPhones are great, but they’ve taken over everyone's life more than they should.

Your simple flip phone turned into an iPhone.

This is one of those things where I wish I didn’t have what I have. I wish I didn’t have an iPhone because I am addicted to it. I use it way too much and I wish it didn’t exist; but since it does, it never leaves my hand. I miss when you didn’t send a million texts a day because it was a lot more complicated to hit each letter three times, and you didn’t use the internet because your parents would kill you with how much it costed.

You traded your Pokemon cards for Pokemon Go.

Once again, I think you really can’t go wrong with the classic old school way of collecting cards. I wish people still did because that was the most exciting thing opening a new pack, and it was something you did with other people. You would talk to people about your cards, not stare at a screen collecting Pokemon. Everything is becoming increasingly less and less personal.

You use your computer to do makeovers stead of the classic, real way.

This one may be a little much, but some people don’t even do a classic makeover anymore. Instead of testing out new things and just going for it with changing their hair color or experimenting with makeup, they just take a picture and use a computer to see what changing their hair would look like or what purple lipstick would look like on them.

I’m all for the advances that are being made today. I think it is incredible what is being discovered each day and the new things that are coming out but sometimes, I think you just can’t go wrong with the classics.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
