You Only Live Once

In today's society so many of us go through our lives day-to-day like robots. We are so concerned about all the things that society requires of us that we forget to live for ourselves sometimes. With school, work and other time-consuming activities that take up our day, we tend to forget the simple things in life that brings us so much peace and joy. Though we do have to do our day-to-day routines, because they help us get closer to our life goals or even keeps us a float, we still need to take a break every now and then.

Most of us, with all these things to juggle, do forget a very important thing. We forget that we only live once, and that we should make the most of it. I, myself, get very consumed with my day-to-day activities and I forget to live my life for me sometimes. I, like many others, tend to put other things such as school work, and writing papers before myself. Whether it may be before the fun activities I can be doing instead or even before my health, I tend to be much focused. Sometimes, however, I have to sit back and say to myself that I need to go do something fun and I know that so do many people.

With all the things that are happening in the world, and even our daily lives, we need to be reminded that we only live once. We do not know what day may be our last and instead of being consumed with work or school all the time we should be having fun every now and then. It is okay to take a break from the work and all the other things that may fill up our daily schedules. Sometimes it is necessary to take that time to ourselves to do something fun. Whether it may be to take a drive or a walk on the beach, getting away is always fun. A little vacation time can go a very long way especially since people barely get to. Taking a week to yourself to go on a spa trip or fishing trip can be very fun and restorative.

Many people may say that taking the vacation will not help with bills and other things, but on the contrary it actually might. Taking a break every now and then can help restore a person to the better state. I can help to give a refreshed look and feeling to and individual that everyone will notice. It will also help the individuals themselves feel and think better about themselves. You only get one chance at this life and since you never know when it might be gone you might as well enjoy it to the fullest.

So instead of worrying about all the problem that we may be facing we as a people should learn to appreciate the small things in life. We should learn to smell the roses even in our toughest times, because though the good times may be great we should learn to dance in the storm instead of running from the rain. You only live once so enjoy it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
