Change You're Life To The Better!

You Are The One In Control
Craig D. Lounsbrough

There are times when we feel down and sad about the unfortunate events that happen to us. Sometimes we're not sure what to do in situations like those. We can shut down and not let those who care about us in our lives. Then depression can kick in if nothing changes or if we don't want to get help. I see too many people turning down their friends and family who want to help them. It's sad when people don't try to get help or don't know if they need it. Always look out for the people around you, because you never know when someone is hurting if you don't look.

There's a lot of people out there who are struggling just to get by and they have no hope for the future. Friends and family always help, but there are people who don't have families to comfort them in times of trouble. That can result in loneliness and potentially, depression. Having people around us who care and will be there for us helps. But a person doesn't have to be surrounded by people in order to feel happy.

We are the ones who can change our lives, but we have to try and take a chance. Because, nothings going to change if we sit by and do nothing. I know its hard to not be upset when things go wrong. But, when we sit and dwell on it, nothings going to change because you're not making an effort. It's not easy being in a situation like that, it's also hard to focus on the good when things are going wrong. But if we want anything to change we have to change our attitude and go for what we want. We're not going to get things that we want right away, because things take time. We have to keep working and striving for our dreams, because nothing is going to be handed to us. We can't just sit at home thinking people owe us something in return. Life doesn't work that way and it never will.

Having dreams and goals is what we need to look forward in life. People struggle every day somewhere fighting to make things better. So why can't we do that? It's not easy to get out of being sad or depressed, but if there's a will there's always a way. You have to believe in yourself to go after the things you want. There will be people to encourage you, but it's your decision to make yourself better. It will take time, weeks, months, and maybe even years. But don't give up when things go wrong or what you don't expect. That's life, bad things happen sometimes, but we have to keep our eyes on the horizon and hope in our hearts, or we may never be able to move forward.

Always keep a positive attitude, because being negative won't change things to the better. Focus on yourself and you're dreams, make them a reality no matter how long it takes! Don't take "no" or "I can't/don't feel like doing it" for an answer. Get out there and be the best you can be! Have faith in yourself every step of the way. Keep smiling even when things get tough, because life's full of challenges but we have the perseverance to overcome them. But most of all, never give up because that's why we're here. We all have a purpose in life, so make your life a great one because your the one in control!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
