As a Christ-follower, God is constantly shaping us into a new creation. Everyday God is changing us to be able to do what he has ultimately called us to do. Isaiah 64:8 says “And yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter. We are all formed by your hand.” This verse simply means that our Father, God, is the potter and we are the clay, he formed us in His hands and makes us into a new creation.
To allow God to shape our lives and make us a new creation we have to become centered on Jesus. Being centered on Jesus is what us as Christians should be striving to do. This means to be actively seeking Him. We can seek Him through prayer, reading and studying the Bible, and being held accountable. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” Like the scripture says, the more we are in God’s word, the more we will be able to see God’s plan for our lives. Being centered on Jesus allows us not to focus on the distractions of our daily lives and worries, but to focus on God and his plan for us.
To be made a new creation in Christ, we need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. We do not change and become new on our own. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” As Christians, being made new is not easy, we will face trials of many kinds. Being unable to decide your major, or not sure what your next step is, or a failed relationship are some of common trials we could face. We need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable because God will reveal himself and His plans in His timing not our own timing. Which means waiting for Him and waiting is usually uncomfortable.
Allowing God to make us new, we need to trust that God’s eyes and hands are on us. No matter what the situation, we must have faith that God is watching over and protecting us. Deuteronomy 3:16 says “…For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” Be confident in the fact that God will always be with you, but it does not mean it will be easy. Even when we think we are all alone turn to God, because He is always there.
Lastly, we must recognize that only God sees the finish line. We don’t know what God is going to ultimately do in our lives, only He does. Ephesians 2:10 says “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” We are God’s masterpiece and He created us with a specific plan for each one of us.
Do not doubt God’s plan for your life. I promise, if you will allow God to shape you into a new creation and to have control of your life, He will make it a masterpiece.
