With New York Fashion Week coming to a close, I'm reminded all over again how much I love Fashion. Fashion week, whether in New York, Paris, Milan, etc. brings fashion lovers from all cultures together to view designer's latest collections. While trends and fads come and go, my love for fashion and sense of style is here to stay. Here are some trends from New York Fashion Week I'm living for.
Hairstyles are getting less complicated and more effortless. The messier the bun, the more stylish you are. I love this due to the fact I can spend more time in my bed in the mornings and less time trying to tame the mane.
Pops of electric color accented a large number of runways the past week. Many retro pinks and blues on tops and even lips are trending this season as well as vibrant pastels. Marc Jacobs line had models rocking pastel dread locks and while I could never pull them off, I (briefly) wished I could.
Trench coats are evolving in a number of different ways. Designers are finding ways to add more color and texture to a classic wardrobe staple. Marcel Ostertag for instance, added ruffles to the bottom of a floor length trench coat. As fall quickly approaches, I will need to hop on the trench coat bandwagon.
Being fashionable and being stylish are completely different. Fashion is temporary, style is a more permanent, personal matter. Events, people, religion, etc. shapes our style and how we want other people to perceive us. Fashion inspires our style and helps us discover and explore new looks. Together, they work simultaneously and define eras in our lives.
