If you have ever participated in a hot yoga class (or any yoga class for that matter), you surely know that it is both a great and antagonizing experience. Yoga is by far one of my favorite ways to break a sweat and attempt to stay in shape (although all of this at-home food and nice alcohol is not helping that situation). The combination of muscle-tensing movements and stretches integrated into a calming environment keeps me interested and feeling fantastic.
If you frequently go to yoga, participate in a yoga class and then leave one; you know how you feel throughout these stages.
My sister and I usually attend classes together and we often find ourselves discussing the same topics repeatedly. Yoga is a great way to relax and still keep a workout going. Our instructors and yoga studio are awesome and we always leave with no regrets of going. Although, we are always asking ourselves the same questions before we go, saying the same things while we’re there, and containing the sense of accomplishment when we leave. No matter how many chaturangas we push our bodies through and how many planks we shake to accomplish, we always enjoy our one hour work-out.
In the midst of it all, there are common sayings and questions running out of both of our mouths. But still, no rAgrets. Not even a letter! (Meet the Millers, anyone?).
Before yoga:
- Do I really want to do this? I am pretty tired. I could use a nap....
- Maybe I will go on a run instead…
- Shit, where did I put my yoga mat?
- …And my towel.
- Did I grab my headband?
- I’M GOING TO BE LATE
- I really don’t want to go do this…
- This is going to hurt.
- Where am I going to set up my mat?
- Too many people over there...
- I don't want anyone to make fun of me.
- Wait, who cares?
- Wow, it is a lot hotter in here than usual.
- If you go you are going to feel THAT much better about yourself.
During yoga:
- Alright self, here we go.
- Wow, I am incredibly sweaty already.
- This hurts, this hurts! What is this posture she is making me do? *The instructor then elaborates on where to move which part of your body. Tuck in your tailbone, pull your heels together and stretch through your finger in your warrior two.*
- Okay, okay. This does not feel half as bad as it felt before.
- What? What is this?
- PLEASE for the love of everything inside my body tell us to change positions.
- How hot is it in here?
- I should have remembered to bring a damn towel…
- THEY WANT US TO DO ABS NOW?!
- This lady wants to see me dead.
- Need. Water.
- Savasana?
- Another cycle? You can do it… No big deal.
- OH MY. SHE FINALLY CALLED FOR SAVASANA. TIME TO LAY DOWN.
After Yoga Practice:
- Ah, sitting here within my own thoughts.
- I did it. I completed another class without rushing to the bathroom to catch my breath and not throw up.
- That felt awesome
- I am so happy I went… I feel cleansed.
- What time do I want to go tomorrow?
- I wonder what there is to eat at home...
- IS THAT CHEESE?!
