At some point in time, we figure out that life flies by super fast. When we are children, we beg the gods to make time go faster, so we can grow up and do grown-up things. But when we are finally adults, we wish we are kids again.
Has this ever happened to you? Wasn't everything easier back then? If you have experienced this hurtful ache in your heart, then you know. If you haven't experienced this, you are lying.
Sometimes I will just think about life and what it has given me thus far along my journey. I think about the opportunities this life still has to offer. I am sure everyone has their own dreams and wonders. So what is holding us back? What is stopping me?
Sure, I am young and I am currently entering my senior year of college. From what I hear from the wise, it is best to start living while we are young. It is the right choice to do the things we have always wanted to do, now. Yet, there is one major factor that is preventing us from taking that leap.
Money.
Yikes, we all hate that word, but we also love it. We love the sound of it, the feel of it, and the comfort of it. Money is a big aspect of our lives. It is basically what gets us through. It is selfish to say that, but am I wrong?
Although everything involves money, you have to try and forget about that. Money can make you happy, but it can also make you sad. Money is scary. Money is actually very evil. People fall in love with it before they fall in love with anything else. It can make or break you.
While we are young, we typically do not have a lot of money on our own. Maybe our parents do, but let's not be spoiled here. When adulthood approaches, all of our birthday and holiday money go towards college or bills. It's actually upsetting that the mindset we are supposed to have is that our lives revolve around money.
But I live by a different motto: you can always make more money, but you can't always make more memories. Tomorrow is never promised.
I wish everyone would live like that.
Yes, money is really tight. Yes, I know everything requires a payment of some sort. Yes, I know you want to take that chance and go with the opportunity that may never come again. That's why you have to take it.
Life is so short.
So go out and get some ice cream, even though it makes you cringe taking $10 out of your bank account. Go to your favorite restaurant and dine your heart out; eat your favorite pasta dish. Buy a shirt you have been eying up online. Go to Barcelona, Italy, Mexico, London, or France. Do it while you are still young. Have some fun with it, no matter what it costs you.
I'm not saying you should be reckless with your money. Of course, you must have a budget for yourself, along with some self-control. I'm just saying that life is so much fun when you start living.
Of course, I could start living now, but I have already started. I do not need money to have a great time and to make the best out of every day.
You should start living, too.
