Yes, I'm Pro-Choice

And that is why I vote Republican.

Pro-Choice. It is a phrase hijacked by the political realm. It causes the political left to have a feeding frenzy and the political right to get defensive. The truth of the matter, neither side of the spectrum understand the meaning of the word.

Reality Check

Like the word, "corporation," the vast majority of the USA have no idea what the true definition of both words. That being said here is the definition of "choice," according to M.Webster:

"the opportunity or power to choose between two or more possibilities: the opportunity or power to make a decision"

There's the definition of "choice." Here's why I am a Pro-Choice, moderate conservative, who votes Republican.

The United States of America is a FEDERATION of independent "countries" who are in a union agreement with each other for mutual benefit. What is a "federation" and how does it work? Webster, again, has the answer:

"a country formed by separate states that have given certain powers to a central government while keeping control over local matters"

Our country was established with local matters being governed by LOCAL people. (Boston Tea Party, anyone? #NoTaxationWithoutRepresentation) They acknowledge the need for a federal governing body with representatives from each state in order to keep peace, prosperity, and accountability.

That said, we were established to have choice. Citizens of each state have the right to vote on their state's laws. The people vote their choice for their state's representatives on the federal level. The people have the choice to accept of reject federal laws within reason.

This is why I am Pro-Choice. People in each individual state should have the CHOICE to vote on their own laws. That includes laws regarding:

1. Abortion - If you and your state vote "pro" it, then you get it. If another state's people vote against it, then it is illegal there. For the people who disagree with their state's vote, move to a state you agree with. Simple.

I'm against abortion, but if you want to be a supporter of murdering defenseless people in the womb, that's your choice. I advise against supporting murder.

2. Education - Let each state and county choose what they want to teach, and let parents choose what school to send their children.

3. Gay "Marriage" - This is awkward because it is itself a combination of church and state, rather than separation. "Marriage" is strictly a word, concept, and covenant recognized by religious institutions. Civil Unions are recognized by local and federal governments. Again, it's the people's choice to vote what they want. But let's keep the church and state separated, okay?

4. Healthcare - People everywhere should have the choice of where they go for medical care. Obamacare is a disaster, and the people did NOT choose it.

5. Illegal Immigrants Penalties - People in Washington D.C. have no idea what the citizens in border states have going on. Let the people of each state choose.

6. Marijuana - Whether for recreational use and/or medicinal, the people should have a choice for their state. A great example is Colorado. Coloradans made their choice. It happened to be "YES," now Colorado has people from other states moving their because those people agree with this law.

I vote Republican because it is the party that offers the most choice.

Republicans are the pro-choice party.

Democrats take away choice and impose things on the people.

No thanks!

P.S. - A corporation is a group of people who own stock in a specific company. Enjoy that retirement fund.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
