I was feeling inspired by the "Harry Potter"weekend on ABC Family and the announcement of the "Harry Potter" sequel, so I started thinking about how similar the dorms are to the Houses at Hogwarts.
Gryffindor: Brockman Hall
Known for being the daring and brave house, Brockman is similar to Gryffindor due to its effortless charm. With community style living, Brockman residents typically leave their doors open, blast music, and always love to have a good time with the people in their hall. Having to share a bathroom with 35 other classmates, you are more likely to meet your newest friends bonding over the same shower shoes rather than the secluded bathrooms within other dorms. Within weeks of moving in, your hall turns from strangers to family. Also, if you look up the meaning of Gryffindor, you'll see that it corresponds with fire, and Brockman is known for having the most fire drills.
Hufflepuff: Husman Hall
Being the house filled with hard workers and genuinely good people, Husman is similar to Hufflepuff because people who live in Husman are very welcoming. With the luxury of bigger rooms and suite-style bathrooms, Husman students spend time in their dorms and create lifelong relationships with their suitemates.
Ravenclaw: Buenger
With values of intelligence, knowledge, and wit, Buenger is like the Ravenclaw house because it is the Honors dorm. Filled with ridiculously smart people, Buenger is home to anyone in the Honors program and some of the university's athletes. Being ridiculously talented students, residents of Buenger are academically driven but also ready to have fun.
Slytherin: Kuhlman
Known for ambition and resourcefulness, Kuhlman's building shows strength and stability. With the most floors of any freshman residence hall, a student finds a way to make it up to the top floor using skill and enthusiasm via the stairwell. Although Slytherin and Gryffindor are rivals in the movie, the residents of both Kuhlman and Brockman get along well and spend a lot of time in each other's dorms.
With a great selection of halls to live in on campus, Xavier's residence life sometimes has similarities to the life shown at Hogwarts.
