Having glitter in your hair is not a new thing. Hello, glitter hairspray? But the trend was taken just a little bit farther by amping-up the glitter. I came across this strange trend thanks to Buzzfeed (once again). They posted this video: DIY Glitter Bear Tutorial.
This trend came out at the perfect time for Novembeard as a way to celebrate the holiday. The Gay Beards, Brian Delaurenti and Jonathan Dahl introduced the festive look back in November of last year (2015). The Instagram-YouTube-duo are Poland natives and best-friends.

J: The name really says a lot about our humor, specifically the fact that we don't take ourselves too seriously. We wanted to create something that was funny and inspirational, all at the same time. Not to mention, it's quite an eerily accurate description
B: Our aim was not to promote the fact that we are gay, because in all reality, that does not define us by any means. However, so many individuals out in this world struggle with accepting themselves due to social stigmas attached to various sexualities and gender identities. We hope that our name helps remove some of that negativity, especially if it encourages even one person to feel less isolated for being who they are.
This trend is not gay exclusive. All men can try it out just for the fun of it. While the glitter-beard trend has received love from some, it has its good share of haters. Currie Corbin from Urban Beardsman dismisses glitter-beards as a trend stating that “glitter beards are not a thing.” Corbin then gives readers reasons why; “You buy glitter for people you hate: You don’t buy glitter for yourself, then voluntarily put it in your beard. Because that would just be crazy pants. You buy glitter for your enemies.”
I must admit that I’ve seen some pretty good ones. Some fans have even taken it as far as glittering their eyebrows and hair.
Women have also adapted their own version of the trend-glitter roots (also known as rainbow glitter).
For my Naturals, glitter-puffs or glitter-edges anyone? (Maybe I’ll pioneer that one) even though I wouldn’t be surprised to see women with glit-pits as a stand for feminism. Wait, I wasn't joking. That's actually a thing! I mean, I've heard of dyed armpits, but wow. I don't think that I'll be trying this trend though.

Some girls have even tried the trend (not trend?) themselves by creating their own beards.

I can’t help to admire some of the creativity. If I had a beard, I would even dare to try this out. Sadly, my chin hairs and stash don’t sprout that far. As for the haters, be thankful that glitter-beard fans are only putting glitter on their facial beards and not elsewhere.
