Dude, did you know how hard it is to write a book?
Maybe not... it's not for everyone. But still; it's SO much harder than one would think. You have to plan everything, write out all of your characters, do research on things you want to have in your book. It's a lot of work. And all the while you're dealing with MY least favorite thing: writers block.
And procrastination, but that's on your own terms.
Hard enough is coming up with the ideas for a book, but to actual write the plans up from your head? It's never as easy as it may seem.
I've been writing since I was in the 6th grade, and now I'm a freshman in college. I've noticed an immense change to my writing stiles from back then to now. Mainly because my vocabulary has expanded and life experiences have helped me come up with less... overused ideas.
Speaking of overused ideas... My imagination is only so vast, and if you haven't noticed: most things are written about already. When it comes down to this, I usually make sure there are a ton of amazing plot twists. Because without an unexpected plot twist, my book would be just like any other.
Now, I'm not saying that I am the most original writer; because, I'm pretty sure other's have written about the same things I've written about. However, I make sure my characters are as original and fun as ever.
The reason behind me writing this article, is to help me and other authors see that it's okay to have the same idea as someone else. It's okay to write about similar things. Just write them as you see them in your mind. Make them YOURS. Create your own creatures or events in history. Just have fun with what you're writing about and don't let others tell you how overused the subjects you're writing about are.
Writing a book may be hard; but it's so much fun. Definitely worth it.
