Writer's block happens to the best of us. Some days, there's just no avoiding it. The best thing you can do when you face writer's block is to just keep writing until you eventually strike gold, or at least create something presentable. I've been there, and I'm sure you have been, too. If anyone can relate to this struggle, it would be "New Girl's," Nick Miller. He's practically the poster child for writer's block. His writer's block is so bad, he puts off all writing in general and does just about everything he can to avoid writing. Here are just a few examples of the reason that if writer's block had a spirit animal, it would be Nick Miller.

1. He starts projects, but he just can't seem to finish them.

Nick did start writing a terrible book called "Z is for Zombie", but he never finished it, not for any other reason except for the fact that he didn't know what else to write. He did just about everything he could to avoid writing this book, but once he started writing it, the words just flew off the page. It just proves that sometimes the best way to overcome writer's block is to just start writing things down, even if it's bad at first.

2. He may be a bit burned out from reading.

Writers need to read a lot in order to practice their craft. But sometimes they read so much, the words lose all meaning! That's probably why Nick feels like he's just memorized a bunch of words. When you can't think of words to use, that's when the writer's block hits the most.

3. He *definitely* pays attention to his impending deadlines.

You mark all the deadlines in your calendar, you set reminders, and you even promise yourself little rewards like candy once you're done with your writing. But deadlines can come up too fast sometimes, and you definitely pay attention to them, and you definitely want to meet those deadlines, right?

4. He knows he's the reason he has writer's block.

When it comes to writer's block, you are your own worst enemy. So it's definitely one of those times when you need to just get over yourself and create something. Yes, the inner you is a difficult beast to conquer. But eventually you'll find confidence within yourself!

5. He does pretty much anything possible to put off writing.

Who here has managed to watch an entire season of New Girl, cleaned their room, texted everyone back, and finished all their assignments n one day just because they didn't want to face writer's block? Raise your hands! Don't worry, I'm right there with you.

6. But he knows how to celebrate when he finally DOES write something down.

Throw yourself a little party once you're done writing something! It may have been thrown together, but trust me, you've earned a mini dance party, or a Netflix binge session, or a bunch of junk food. Either way, be sure to reward yourself for getting something down on paper!

And yes, I definitely wrote this article because I came down with a serious case of writer's block. Don't let it get you down, though! No matter what you create, it will turn into something wonderful and entirely your own. Whatever you make, I'm sure it'll have the exact right words and will be something you're proud of! Just maybe stay away from the zombie books while writing.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
