English was always my favorite subject in school. I loved reading different genres and analyzing their many meanings. The library was my favorite hang out spot. I loved sitting in the corner alone with my head buried in a book. I also loved to write my own pieces. Writing has been my thing, my niche. I would go through an entire notebook in a week. I would write my thoughts, goals, dreams, fiction; you name it, I wrote it.
Odyssey writers tend to get a lot of flack due to the amount of creators on the site and the repeat articles. They say Odyssey writers aren't real writers. Well if you ask me, there is no right way to write. You have don't to write the next shakespeare play to be a real writer. No one likes a writing or journalism snob. Odyssey is a platform for students to write their thoughts and to have a voice. Why is this a bad thing?
I don't write for Facebook shares. I don't write for page views. I don't write for click bait titles. I don't write for money. I don't write to possibly get published. I write for myself. I write as a therapeutic method. I write as creative expression. I write because I love to write and if my "credibility" goes down because I choose to do it on this platform, then so be it.
