In being a young adult with extraordinarily limited funds and incredibly heavy needs, such as perms, Ramen, and Spotify premium, it becomes difficult to at once manage money and save some for future disaster and collegiate needs. In spite of this, however, I firmly believe it is vital to Treat Yo Self, aka splurge and spend one hundred dollars on makeup, or get that pizza at three am when you know you just had pizza two nights in a row beforehand.
What's the point of living if you're not going to be happy? Life is meant to be lived, and in my opinion, money is meant to be spent. Sure, you probably shouldn't blow all your life savings in one hot second, or actually buy everything you even slightly want (like a ukulele with a shark on it or several different ironic T-shirts), but it's important to actually treat yourself to something that will lift your spirits, especially when you've been working hard for it. I'm a firm believer in hard work and earning one's own money, but furthering that with the knowledge that you can independently use that money to pamper and reward yourself. Feeling guilty for buying things you know you'll get giddy over once they come in the mail is not the way to live life, and to me, happiness includes knowing when to treat yourself right.
