Worst Things About Being Home For Winter Break

Everything has its cons and pros with coming home for winter break. You do not have to do a ton of work anymore until the month after and you get to be with your close friends from home. The cons will be you get bored being home after a few weeks and things are limited to do when it's freezing cold and none your friends want to head outside. In my situation, the cons outweigh the pros and I'll get to some reasons why. When I first get home, I say hi to my family and friends, hang out with them and get back to the old times when I stayed home all the time. After Christmas, seeing my family and everything the boredom strikes and I decide I want to go back to college so I can continue pursuing my career and meeting new people. I have limited things to do when I am home and jobs are cut short because most of them are taken from other employees that were looking for one before me. The food is the best part and being with family and friends, but then it's just the same routine over and over again, without work to stress me out or teach me something new.

The knowledge you gain in college from your major is immense, but once you go home you get the break from it and have to find the motivation to learn again. The motivation when leaving home back to college in the Spring semester is detrimental and you lose a lot of that. That is another con that continues to flow, motivation is gone and same routines continued. Opportunities are not limitless, but the break flies back and you are right back at school. The only thing that may keep me to staying home is making youtube videos so I can continue pursuing my career as a YouTuber. I love the amount of love you receive when getting home, but the boredom strikes to a point, where it is like can I go back to college yet. The only problem is when college throws a lot of homework, tests, and quizzes at you, you would like to be home, but when you are home for too long you want to go back to college.

It is a difficult process that everyone goes through in life, but everyone is different from each other in their view of this. Christmas is a great holiday to spend time with your family like almost any other holiday but to me, it's just a point of time where you get bored of being home for too long. Somethings are not meant for people, but college is tough and breaks are necessary for many people. Stress is a factor that can take a toll on anyone's life drastically. Hopefully youtube continues to keep me occupied at me home often.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
