As a college student, I need money. Unfortunately, I live in a small city that doesn't have many opportunities for work. And worse than that is that by the time I get back from school, all the good jobs are taken by the high school students in the area. Because of this, I am left with nothing. This means my already dwindling bank account has to hold me over for over two months before I can go back to school and work there.
This article is full of first-world problems. That being said, this is still a problem that I have found a lot of college students end up going through when they come home.
What makes this situation even worse is that everything is so expensive. You have to pay for everything and prices are just going to go up. Look at gas prices for example. Hell, a trip to the movies is $20. And that is money that I don't have. This leaves me with no choice but to live on a tight budget, a budget that sadly makes it so that more often than not I am stuck inside, on the couch, watching reruns of television shows.
Let me just tell you that budgets are difficult to follow, especially if you are going on vacation. My family has a cruise planned and I have realized that I have to set aside money to spend at each port for souvenirs. This is horrible! I don't have money to spend. I have a whole month left of summer and I am already in dangerous territory.
To make matters worse, I have a list of movies that I want to see. And the list is substantial. I have many difficult decisions to make. Stupid budget.
August can't come fast enough.
