The 6 Worst Struggles Of Going Back To School

Break was great, but now it's back to the cold reality that is school.

The 6 Worst Struggles Of Going Back To School

Coming back to school after being at home for a break is always difficult, especially for a homebody. You go from enjoying comfortable, loving living conditions, to having to live in a stinky dorm or apartment with 400 of your closest friends. While there are positives to the college experience over the home experience, it is icky to go back. Here's why.

1. Awful Food

Say goodbye to your mom's homemade meals and dive right back into the same gross meals every week. There's no more fully stocked fridge with actual food and prepare yourself for the return of a mini-fridge with only condiments and an expired yogurt.

2. Mornings

There's a special kind of horrible place for 8 a.m. classes that you have to walk outside in the cold to get to. Going back to school definitely makes you miss the fact that you (most likely) got to sleep as late as you pleased and when you woke up all that you had to do was walk downstairs.

3. No More Mom

Moms can find the lost keys, they can get out a grease stain, and they can cure a cold. What they can't do, however, is do these things when they aren't there. Which they aren't if you are away from home for college. It's back to stained clothes, permanently lost keys (or until mom comes to visit), and a perpetually stuffy nose.

4. No More Pet Cuddles

Pets are great. They truly are a part of the family and you miss them as much as (if not more than) your family. Being away from a pet is hard, probably because you can't cuddle with them over the phone, and after a while of being able to cuddle all day every day, it's hard to give it up to go back to school.

5. Homework

Being off of school with no homework was splendid. Can't we just go back to that please?

6. Home Truly Is Where The Heart Is

As fun as college is, home is where life is the best. It's where the people who you love are, where the fridge always has strawberry yogurt (and not the super cheap brand that is always runny), where the pets can always calm you down, and where you don't always have to be an adult. It's where you can always get hugs when you're feeling down. Being away from home is really tough, but it's always the toughest immediately after a break, because you remember how wonderful home is. But, after a while, school starts to grow on you and you really start to enjoy it. Before you know it, it'll be another break and you're back home enjoying edible meals and pet cuddles.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
