Many people write off Harry Styles as the boy band member with the long hair. However, throughout his five years in the spotlight that has surrounded One Direction, and especially in 2015, he has shown that he has not let fame affect him. He holds himself to a certain standard and knows that he would not have gotten to where he is today on his own. There are countless reasons why he should be more appreciated, but here are some of the most important ones:

1. He passionately supports causes that mean a great deal to him. Most recently, he spoke out in opposition of SeaWorld at one of One Direction’s concerts and caused a tremendous reaction from fans and young people all over the world.

Another cause that he has shown his support for in the past includes Emma Watson’s “He for She” campaign that promotes gender equality.

2. He believes in the importance of education and showed his support when he and his bandmates partnered with Action/2015 and created the Action/1D initiative. The reaction to Action/1D was so widespread that even Malala Yousafzai acknowledged his hope for a future where all children can receive an education.

3. One of his greatest and most underappreciated qualities is that he always shows concern for fans that are going through tough times. Whether fans admit to being depressed, or they are in the middle of a panic attack, Styles is always there to lend a hug and acknowledge their strength and importance to him and others.

4. He has remained humble despite all of his major accomplishments and realizes that “famous” is only a superficial term.

Beyond that, he also respects the people who help make his dream possible and acknowledging that is evidently the most important part of the job for him.

5. Most importantly, he creates a safe-space at 1D concerts. He has expressed to fans that he wants them to engage with the show by doing what makes them happiest in the world.

However, his support does not end there. In the past, he wore a Michael Sam jersey in support of the player who had at the time come out as gay.

Additionally, LGBTQ+ fans have expressed their joy after recent concerts where he skipped around the stage donning rainbow flags.

Basically, Harry Styles is a gem, and 2015 is slowly but surely becoming the year that more and more people realize his genuine kindness and love for all people.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
