Rude customers. Terrible weather. Bad tips. Work is where I feel that I always am, but it gets me what I like to have. I believe in working hard for what you want, so that others do not have to pay your way for you.
There are four different types of teenagers in the world. What kind are you?
1. Wealthy Society
We all have that one friend who is spoiled rotten and doesn't have to work. That person who buys luxury items and doesn't think twice about how much he or she is spending. These people could do whatever they'd like with their money without a care in the world.
2. Borrow Bettys
Then there's our other friend who asks us for money all the time. This person doesn't have a job and he or she never plans on getting one while he or she is in high school and college, but some people just don't know when to stop.
3. Academically Engrossed
We also have those friends who don't work, but they don't ask for money, either. Maybe they are always busy with. school work. Who really knows?
4. Working Class
But then there's us. We have been working since we were around 15 years old and we'll work until we are around 50, if we're lucky. Working now paves the way for our future. It looks good on job applications and it also allows us to work on our people skills. Don't get the few of us that work in fast food wrong, the fast food industry isn't completely great, but we do have fun occasionally. Sometimes we might work with some of our friends, other times we may have a good day because we meet an interesting customer or the tips are good.
But in the end, both the good, and the bad days are worth it.
You see, we make this money, but for what? Is it to go spend it ludicrously? Not for some of us. In my case, I pay bills with my checks. The majority goes to my car payment, which allows me to go back and forth to work. Normally, about once a month I'll allot myself $100 to spend on items that I want. It doesn't seem like much compared to the girl who just spent $300 on a shirt at my school, but it's the life for me.
Working allows us to work hard for what we need or want. As a whole generation, we need to learn that. Once the select few who haven't worked get older, they are going to see that it is not so easy being an adult. They won't get handed things like they did as children.
Motivation is key when it comes to working. I guess it helps us in life because we are motivated people.
We are the working class.
