Tired of eating ramen noodles every night? Tired of always kicking it at your place instead of going out with friend? Sounds like getting a job could be a great way to get some extra spending money in your pockets.
I know college is busy and getting a job may not be an option for everyone, but if you do have the spare time, I would highly recommend it. Having a little bit of extra cash in your pocket can be helpful in many ways. You can have the freedom to go to the movies or out to dinner with your friends without having to ask your parents for money. By working a few days a week, or on the weekends, you can work up your independence as an individual and start to get a true taste of what your future will be like. This job does not have to be your career in any way, shape, or form. This is supposed to be a small, part-time job that is 100% temporary while you work towards your career.
Not only is having a job in college a good way to earn money, but it is also a great resume builder. It may seem small and menial at the time, but showing that you will work while being a student shows potential future employers the effort you put towards success, as well as skills in time-management. This job should not interfere with your education in any way. Most employers in a college area will understand that school comes first and will try to work around your schedule.
Getting a job while being a student can be liberating. Working gives you a sense of responsibility that is and will be necessary when it comes to a more permanent career. Working will also give you a chance to meet new people, turning co-workers into best friends. So, go get a job, make some money, and have fun.
