Words.

Words are penetrative, they enter your skull

They intertwine between your most sensitive spots and make you want to twirl.

Our own minds see it as a malicious intention,

When in reality we are at fault for retention.

Not that we’re at fault, but we are just unaware,

We haven’t learned to let go, or learned not to care.

Words.

You see, words are deceitful.

Our mind constantly analyzes uncontrollable things that happen around us.

Our emotions will only surmount once we learn to let go of these misguiding words.

Sometimes people mean to expose these horrific words to you.

Sometimes people present you with these wonderful and flattering words.

Regardless of what’s coming out of their mouths, we need to learn to accept them and continue.

Words.

Continuation seems impossible for the majority,

But after reevaluating your life, you already have a set goal and a main priority,

Forget about these words, forget about these people,

Build on your inner self by creating a magical steeple,

Intruders will try to invade like the Englishmen did back in the day,

But you’ll be ready to accept these words and avoid possible dismay.

Words.

“People are people so why should it be, you and I should get along so awfully […] It's obvious you hate me, though I've done nothing wrong, I never even met you, so what could I have done, I can't understand what makes a man hate another man, help me understand” (Depeche Mode).

Words.

We react to them whether it’s a shout or a whisper,

Even your cats jump high when you scream “HI WHISKER.”

It’s a response we’ve learned since we were an infant,

It’s a nature of our lives, it’s just contingent.

But we have the choice to either listen or ignore,

And as we grow older selective hearing is something we’ll adore.

We begin to understand what it means to accept these words,

We’ll learn to throw them away immediately like a big bowl of turds,

As disgusting as it may sound, that’s really what it narrows down to,

If you’re able to drop a book, you should be able to take a word and throw it down too.

Words.

It’s your choice to analyze what’s good to absorb and what’s good to let go,

But don’t really pay attention to what brings you down low.

Sometimes words may bring you down, but they may be words of advice,

Minimize them small enough to where they’re the size of a grain of rice,

From there you can decipher between the beneficial and the harmful,

Don’t be fooled by any though, because either can sound charmful.

But at this point it’s your turn to return to that giant and magical steeple,

Rush to your garden, throw up the rice, and see which land on a sepal.

After deciphering which’ll benefit you, you will feel some type of power,

Because you were strong enough to build your steeple and surround yourself with beautiful flowers.

Words.

That’s it, you’ve done it, you have learned how to interpret words,

But not too fast young man, now it’s time to let go of the birds.

These are the crows you’ve accumulated in your head throughout the long long years,

The ones rich in words and judgements that have brought you down to tears,

Be proud of yourself, evaluate your life, and open up a can of beer,

Sit down and relax because the answers are near.

Words.

You have learned to let go at this point, or you have considered to let go by now,

Stand up and applaud now, don’t be afraid to take a bow.

The anxiety that has riffled through your mind will soon go back to order,

You’ll be eating lettered soup now in alphabetical order.

Words.

Be proud of who you are, don’t let words bring you down. If they’re harmful, report them; if they’re meant to offend you, run to your steeple and repel them with your magical powers. You have the strength to let go, you just have to begin developing that strength right now. The little things are what wears us out inside the most. But step on them, or cage them up and let them go like how you did with those birds. Never let out anger on anybody else. If a word concerns you don’t overanalyze it; unless you’re a private investigator. But most of us are not investigators. Learn to accept and let go. It will take time, but always remember… Build your own magical steeple. Be creative. The more creative, the stronger it will be, and the more words you will be able to repel.

Words.

They are just words.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
