Words From Stevie Nicks That Every Girl Should Hear

Have you ever had a bunch of questions about yourself that you nor your family could answer? Have you ever found yourself struggling to become the person you believe you can be, because of what other people have to say? If you are any normal human being, you have experienced issues similar to these above. But luckily, Stevie Nicks has wise words to guide you through such times of wonder.

My obsession with Stevie spurred about when my parents informed me that she is the reason I was named Stevie. As a little girl that got made fun of for having such a "different" name, I used to hate it, and I often questioned the reasoning behind why my parents named me such a strange sounding name. Once I grew up and really became a fan, I realized why so many people love the person she is and the music she makes; giving me a more confident feel when analyzing my unique name.

I grew up listening to her music (obviously my parents were HUGE fans), so I always possessed a deep appreciation for those incredible melodies she and Lindsey Buckingham created. I didn't quite fall in love with Stevie until high school, when I basically knew every lyric she ever wrote and pondered on some quotes I ran across while watching documentaries, reading articles and looking at pictures of her beautiful, gypsy soul.

Stevie not only hits me in the feels with every song she creates but she has influenced me to really be the "Stevie" that I can be. She truly made me understand how to be myself. She allowed me to move past large obstacles and learn from mistakes. Her words can be so unbelievably empowering; I wish and hope that girls around the world can hear her words and believe in themselves, which is exactly what happened to me.

Her thoughts on being a true individual should never go unheard. She brings back a rational, mysterious, appropriate take on "sexy" that all women should keep in mind. Her idea of love is something so far from ordinary, I almost can't fathom any of it. The way she talks about fear makes nothing seem terrifying. So, here are some quotes that I believe teenagers and young women should be exposed to. Let these soak in, remember them and apply them when you hit a bump in the road or you question who you are. She can help you find your true self.

1. "I am pretty fearless, and you know why? I don't handle fear very well; I am not a good terrified person."

2. "I think they all went too far. Their jeans got too low, their tops got too see-through. Personally, I think that sexy is keeping yourself mysterious. I'm really an old-fashioned girl, and I think I'm totally sexy."

3. "I'm behind the time, but in my own fashion world."

4. "I was not going to be a stupid girl singer. I was going to be way more than that."

5. "I never gave up the fight. That's why I'm who I am today, because I didn't leave. And I think I made the right choice."

6. "I didn't want to look like anyone else - like Janis Joplin or Grace Slick. That's why I never went to any of the big designers."

7. "You know, the man of my dreams might walk round the corner tomorrow. I'm older and wiser and I think I'd make a great girlfriend. I live in the realm of romantic possibility."

8. "I totally believe in magic. Because my life I think has been very magic, and magical things have come true for me time after time after time."

9. "If you are gracious, you have won the game."

10. "She rules her life like a bird in flight."

11. "If you’ve never experienced the really dark and deep lows of love, then you can never really experience the real highs of love."

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
