And Just Like That, My Freshman Year Is Over

It feels like just yesterday I was moving in, and with the blink of an eye my year is over.

225 days, 8 months, and countless amazing memories later.

Where has the time gone? It feels like just yesterday I was telling my parents goodbye more nervous than ever to attend a university with thousands of people of whom I could count the people who I knew on one hand.

And with a blink of an eye, I am getting ready to leave some of my best friends.

The people I have met at The University of Michigan are people I could truly not live without and am going to miss more than anything these next four months. However, the weirdest part of all is that last year at this time I didn’t even know that these people existed.

Never before have I been so sad for summer to be here (although I am excited to have a break from the constant studying). When thinking about my amazing year there are many things that I will miss but I am just going to tell you a few of those things. The first is eating dinner every single night with my friends whether it is in the dining hall, ABP, or at any restaurant in Ann Arbor. No matter how good or bad my day is I always know dinner with my friends will make me smile.

I will miss being able to get to my friends’ room in less than two minutes and being able to just walk upstairs to talk to them about anything and everything. I will miss being in classes that make me think in a way that I have never thought before and I will miss being able to be in class with some of the best professors in the world. Lastly, I will miss being at the most amazing place with the most amazing people. Even during finals week, I am still happy and that is solely in part because of the people I am with. So much has happened since I came to Michigan in September and I can’t believe the year is already over.

So Ann Arbor, although it is snowing today and I leave for summer break next week, thank you for the best freshmen year of my life and for introducing me to lifelong friends that I couldn’t imagine a day without.

131 days, 4 months, and never-ending memories to come next year.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
