Mermaids are one of my favorite mythical creatures along with unicorns and fairies and dragons. Who wouldn't want to be one? They have so many qualities they have that would be so much better than just my human abilities!

1. They have really long hair!

All mermaids have super long hair! Granted, I could too, but they always have the perfect length. Plus, they have great hairstyles to go along with it.

2. They can breathe underwater.

How many times have you tried to hold your breath underwater and only lasted about 30 seconds to a minute tops? Imagine if you didn't have to hold your breath anymore!

3. They don't need to shave their legs.

As women, we all have those days when we could care less about having smooth legs. Well, as mermaids, we wouldn't have to worry about it at all, because we would have a tail!

4. Traveling is so much easier for mermaids.

According to various movies, mermaids can swim pretty fast. S,o if I wanted to go across the country or to another part of the world, I could just swim there. Plus, no need to spend money.

5. They can live in the ocean.

One of the most amazing places in the world is the ocean! In addition to the beach and the waves, there are tons of animals and fish that make the ocean a heavily desired place for me. Being able to live there and constantly explore and be a part of a hidden world would be amazing.

6. Mermaids have incredible singing abilities.

One thing mermaids are widely known for are their voices. Whether it's to lure a fisherman in or just singing during their downtime, they have beautiful voices and songs that make anyone's heart melt! I have always loved to sing.

7. They don't need to waste time deciding what to wear!

I spend countless hours trying to figure out what to wear. Sometimes I even try on five different outfits before I decide to go with the first one I had on. I would love not having to decide on clothes every day!

8. They have no worries.

Who needs to worry when you're swimming around in the ocean all day?

9. They can indulge in unlimited sunbathing

I love when I can feel the sun beating down on me and I have gorgeous tan skin! As a mermaid, that would be my only job!

10. Mermaids don't need to work for a living or worry about money.

This might just be the best benefit of them all -- not needing money to survive and not having to have a job to get money to survive!

With all this cold weather approaching, I wish I was a mermaid more than ever! Besides, all of these are great benefits. Don't you wish you were a mythical ocean creature?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
