Being home for winter break definitely has its perks. For one, you're home, making plans with friends you haven't seen in a long while, and eating all the food you haven't been able to in months. It might be a little weird getting back into your old routine at home, but taking a break from school has been much needed.
1. Your Neighbors
You leave for six months and now what? Half of the neighborhood is replaced. You find out Bill and Jill from down the street sold their house three months ago and now there lives Bob and Lisa with their three kids and a dog. Now you seem like the new neighbor since no one has ever met you before. How awkward can it get?
2. Home Cooking
Let's face it (or maybe we already have): Cafeteria food never satisfied our taste buds. Nothing tastes better than home cooking, whether it's our parents, our siblings, or our own cooking. Breakfast definitely tastes better now that it isn't the same order of bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel.
3. Okay, Maybe It's Just Food In General...
Pizza and cookies: the two most delicious foods known to man. Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating, but they're pretty freaking good. We can all indulge on an abundance of cheese pizza and chocolate chip cookies... maybe more than once.
4. Sleeping In
Thank the Lord! No more alarms for a while! You finally have the chance to sleep in as late as you please, and, damn, it feels good. You might end up feeling like a lazy bum, but in reality, does it even matter?
5. Sleepovers
Catching up with all of your hometown friends is great, especially when it isn't over FaceTime or texts. Sleepovers are the perfect cure for all of the missed hangouts and late-night talks. Winter Break is the perfect time to relax or go crazy with an old friend. Sharing all of your new memories from college together definitely qualifies as much needed best-friend bonding.
6. Movie Nights
There will be more than one of these. Maybe they won't even be at night. Maybe they'll turn into a movie day or week. However long these movie watching marathons are, they were much needed. Forgetting about homework and due dates definitely is fulfilled by a Netflix marathon with friends or family. Because who isn't binge watching all of the Harry Potter movies on ABC Family right now?
7. Memories
Now you've made some old memories with some new friends, gotten yourself hyped up over home-cooking and no alarms, and gotten into a lazy routine with friends, family, and neighbors. Winter Break is definitely a time to catch up on a few things: friends, food, and sleep.
