The best thing to do on a cold winter's day is snuggle up in a blanket with a hot cup of coffee while reading a great book. So, for all of you looking for new books to read, here is my list of favorites.

1. Coraline by Neil Gaiman

Now yes, this is a children's book BUT it is absolutely amazing. I easily read it in one night because it was so good I couldn't put it down. It was made into a movie by the great Tim Burton and he did an amazing job. This book is about a girl who moves into a new apartment complex with her parents and discovers a secret door that leads to another world much like hers but better. The longer she stays in that world the more she finds it to be not at all what she had thought, but rather, a trap to get her to stay and she must escape before she gets stuck there forever. If you liked the movie, you will love the book.

2.Starters by Lissa Price

This is a young adult book which is another very good read. It tells of a time where the world has fallen into war and the only survivors are the elderly and people 20 and under. The younger people are very poor and can barely survive while, the elderly are very rich and powerful. One of the only ways to make money for the younger people is to temporarily rent out their bodies to the older people so they can go out and relive their glory days. But, the main character soon discovers that her body was rented to do something horrible and she has to try to stop the person who rented it before it happens. There is a sequel to this book called, Enders so if you love this book no worries! The story continues.

3.Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige

This book is an obvious spin off of The Wizard of Oz but with a much more brutal and gruesome outlook. Instead of Dorothy being the innocent, sweet girl we've all thought of her to be, she becomes overcome with power and is now the evil ruler of Oz. a new girl from Kansas is summoned to help save Oz from her clutches. She joins a group of wicked witches to try to take down Dorothy but it requires more planning and power than they had anticipated. This is actually the first book in a series and I suggest reading them all!

4.The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion

If you're a fan of the tv show, The Big Bang Theory you will love this book! The main character has a form of Aspergers which makes him extremely set in a specific every day routine that helps him feel like he is in complete control of his life. But he is nearing the age where he'd like to settle down and find a wife so, he comes up with a survey for women to take to find the "ideal compatable partner" but the woman he ends up falling for is the complete opposite of everything he wanted. Extremely funny and sweet book, I've read this multiple times and still find it to be one of my favorites.

5. Orange Is The New Black by Piper Kerman

If you thought the tv show was good, then you have got to read the book! Takes you through the every day life of a women's prison and let me tell you, it does not sound fun. Very witty and hilarious. I'd give it a 8/10.

Hope you give these a try! You won't regret it. Happy reading!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
