Winter is a beautiful season. Everything is covered in a layer of frost and there is a refreshing chill in the air. However, once the holidays have passed it may seem like winter is dragging on. There is nothing to look forward to before spring. Here is a list of activities that will help the remaining months of winter a little bit brighter.
1. Skiing/Snowboarding
We will start this list with the winter classics of skiing and snowboarding. These two sports are exhilarating and great to do with friends. Not only is it fun, but an excellent workout. There is nothing quite like spending a day speeding down a mountain. It clears your head and connects you with nature.
2. Tubing/Sledding
If skiing/snowboarding isn't really your speed, tubing or sledding can be an alternative. You will still get the experience of being outside and playing in the snow. If you want to stay a little closer to home, sledding is the perfect activity. You can sled in your backyard or just down the street. If you want to go to the mountains but aren't feeling the skiing vibe, tubing is the way to go! You can still be up on the mountain, but instead of catching air on your skis or board, you can do so in your inter tube.3. Hiking
Going for a hike during winter is breathtaking. Everything is tipped with snow and so clean and white. Hiking can be a way to become squinted to the world around you and to see natures beauty. It will help you to appreciate the beauty that is the long yet incredible winter season. It can be chilly and slippery though, so make sure you bring jacket and some shoes with good tread.4. Reading
If you are someone who prefers indoor activities; reading is a wonderful way to spend winter. You curl up in the comfort of your own home with some tea or hot chocolate and completely immerse yourself in literature. Reading can transport you to far away lands and distant places, giving both your mind and soul an adventure.5. Ice Skating
Ice skating has been a staple winter activity for years; and with good reason! Skating is a blast. The feeling of gliding (not so) gracefully across the ice is magical. Even if we may look a bit silly out there skating around, take some friends and mittens and embrace the unsteadiness.6. Hot Tubbing
When there is a chill in the air and you cannot seem to get warm, I suggest taking a dip in a hot tub. The combination of the surrounding cold air and the relaxing warmth of the water are soothing. Hot tubing in winter is especially beautiful while it is snowing. Sitting outside watching the snowflakes fall down while in a hot tub is a unique experience.I hope these activities help make the winter season less dark and dreary. So when you aren't sure what to do with that extra time you have, hit the slopes, read a good book or even go hot tubbing. Winter has so much to offer in terms of events to keep both our bodies and minds busy. Here's to a fun winter full of new experiences and memorable times.
