A couple of words to share my life lived in love.
After unashamedly pining after a boy for half of my high school career, he finally asked me to a school dance during the second semester of our junior year. I could not believe it. The boy that I had had my eye on for two and a half years asked me to a dance and I just knew that this would be the start of something good. The dance wasn't anything extraordinary, but my date sure was. To make a long story short, on the day of that dance, I fell completely head-over-heels in love with him.
That one high school dance led to three more, plus countless dinner dates and trips to the drive-in movie, flowers on birthdays and a person to occupy my heart and completely change my life.
Almost three years later, we are still crazy in love and having the best time doing life together. He is my boyfriend, but also so much more. He is the best shoulder to cry on, the one who can turn an ordinary day into an amazing day, the one who makes me laugh until I cry, the one who knows me best and my closest, truest friend. And that doesn't even begin to describe it all.
Love is the best thing to ever happen to me and it didn't just magically appear when I started dating my boyfriend. I have my parents and family to thank for teaching me to live my life in love. Being kind to others, being there for a friend and acting in selfless ways is how I choose to show love to others. I do these things not for my own benefit, but to better the lives of those I love. In return, I live a full life in love. One of my favorite things in the world is spending time with my family. We lift each other up and our best memories are the ones we have made together. The love of family is absolutely irreplaceable.
Similarly, the love of a significant other is incredible, and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have that love. My boyfriend shows love every single day in the little things he does. The simple act of recapping our days with each other, sharing a meal, watching a movie or just being silly and laughing together brings both of us so much comfort and happiness. To me, that's the key to love: knowing someone well enough to be 100% yourself with them and making each other laugh.
So, to my boy: thank you for taking a chance on me, for loving me unconditionally and for letting me love you. You make me feel like the absolute luckiest girl in the world every day. Who knew that after one high school dance, you could change my entire life. I am so happy that I said yes to that dance proposal. Because of it, I've seen the world through a new lens and I've been able to live my life more in love than ever.
