I just want to write. I knew that if I had a deadline every week then I would force myself to write. For those interested, Odyssey does not have many requirements to join their team besides submitting your articles weekly.

My mentor told me that if I want to become a better writer than I would need to write daily, which I don’t always set time aside to write. Being part of Odyssey has allowed me to set time aside to just write my piece, which I am not always sure what I am writing. This past spring quarter, I realized that I want to pursue a master’s program in creative writing before going to law school. So this means that I have to journal every day.

Through Odyssey, I figured that if I had the weekly deadline accountability, then I would submit an ‘article’ every week, instead of not writing at all. This would allow me to write, write, and write­––per week of course. I would also not have to focus so much on making it perfect, but ultimately produce something. All this would be part of a learning and growth experience. I hope to eventually find something that I am interested and just write a series of pieces, which I am still exploring.
