Furry, fluffy, cute, cuddly, and happy, pets are a staple of American family life. Whether you're a dog person or a cat person or any other type of animal person, most of us can agree that pets add happiness to our lives.
College is a time for fun and exploration (when you're not studying for hours), but it's also a time when you learn how much your pets actually mean to you. When living in a dorm, or certain apartments, your joy of having a pet is taken away from you. You see dogs around campus you can pet, but it's not the same as having your own dog, cat, or other pet to chill with when you go back to your room. You find yourself dying to go home just to see your furry best friend. Here are just a few of the reasons that pets are your true best friends:
They're goofy.
They have their own unique personalities. It seems like they are often filled with wonder at the smallest things they do. You can always count on your pet to cheer you up after a rough day with their silly little faces and actions.
They're always down to cuddle with you.
Even if you feel like you're forever alone in this world, you can count on your pet to be there to keep you company. It's also a plus that they're furry and warm.
They never argue with you, or stay mad at you.
There are times when they get annoyed with you, but at the end of the day you're their best friend. Besides, what type of best friends don't get annoyed at each other sometimes?
They always know how to make you feel better.
It's like they can sense the sadness or anger radiating off of you. No matter how bad your day, week, month, year, or life may be, your pet is always there to lend a helping paw.
They keep you active.
Whether it be jogging or simply getting up to feed them, your pets keep you moving. Yes their enthusiasm at times can be a bit overbearing, but it's always nice to have a jogging partner.
They let you dress them up.
Whether it's for a holiday or just because, they will (occasionally) allow you to dress them up in cute little outfits. It's always fun to have a nice dressed best friend.
They love you unconditionally.
You're their entire world, and they are yours. They could never hate you and you could never hate them. They're always there to make you feel happy and loved.
