"Man's Best Friend" is such a common saying that people nowadays often forget exactly why the saying came about towards the canine species.
They are your loyal companion and whether he/she is just a puppy or adult, they hold a valuable place in your heart that we sometimes take for granted.
They are the ones who will sit on your lap or by your bedside when you're down, because they love you and know when you've had a rough day and are prepared for lots of puppy cuddles.
They are the ones who you simply cannot stay mad at, no matter how many shoes they chew up, make an "oopsie" on the floor, or countless times of digging in the trash.
They are the ones who will annoy you to no end with the insane amount of begging every time you have anything edible even remotely in their presence. You know you always sneak them a bite because you simply can't resist those puppy dog eyes.
They are also the ones with you, when going through break ups, when having new boyfriends/girlfriends, during school years, getting a driver's license, and even going to prom.
They are the ones who you tell all your problems to and even though they don't respond, they seem to be the best listeners you could ever ask for.
Your dog truly is your best friend whether you wish to accept it or not. They love you and will be by your side through thick and thin and unlike some judgmental people, they adore you and find you perfect in every aspect ... and one day they won't be here anymore and it will feel like a part of you is missing because for that short time, they were family to you.
So cherish your loyal canine companion,
your best friend,
your best listener,
your best snuggle buddy,
your best comfort when times get rough (or ruff),
your favorite furry thing to come home to,
All in all, cherish your pet. They love you with all their heart and will always accept you for who you are. So give them an extra treat every once in a while and remind them of how much you love your furry, wet-nosed best bud. You'll miss them when they're gone.
