Just a Hallmark holiday or another day in favor of capitalism? Either way Valentine’s Day is already here!
I hope to all who are planning to give their special someone a little something special that you have your gift ready. If you need a last minute gift, there’s always the classic flowers and chocolates. But to be original you can be a bit sappy and write a heartfelt love note and if you’re a little more risky than go for a passionate serenade.
But back to the idea of the day itself!
How can you not love love? From the busyness of our lives, there’s no denying at times we neglect to tell those who mean the most to us how we truly feel. It’s always a pleasure being reminded that someone cares for you and that you have a spot in someone’s heart.
So it doesn’t matter if you have a significant other, you can still have a Valentine. Call your parents back home and tell them how much they mean to you. Call your hometown best friend and catch up, reminisce about “back in the day”. Spend a day with your best pals. Just treat yourself and surround yourself with people you love. This is what Valentine’s Day is all about.
If you want to have a night long marathon of Netflix romantic comedies, go for it! If it’s a fancy dinner for just yourself, order an extra special dessert! Do whatever love calls you to do.
It’s not about grand old romantic gestures albeit they’re great as well but it’s just being reminded to show you care.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a diehard fan of the invasion of red and pink hearts surrounding consumerism this time of year or you’re one of those extremist haters of the holiday as it reminds you of your supposed suffocating loneliness, February 14 is just another day of the year that has a label. But despite everything, a day dedicated to love is something to admire.
