They are probably unhappy and want to rub their unhappiness onto you
Truth be told they probably ended up getting a degree in something for the financial aspect. That sounds so negative, but if someone understood the importance of your major to you, they would not discourage you from chasing your dreams.
You choose it for a reason
Obviously you have a clue about what you want to do in life, and if a underrated major like mine (Communications) is what you are interested in continue to pursue it because the outcome and experiences may be amazing.
The result that you receive is how much you put into it
Join clubs, get internships, or get a mentor relating to your major. All of these things will help you develop connections for your professional career no matter what major you select.
Make sure to research information about it
Look at things like job outlooks and best locations for that line of work that comes after your college degree. This will help you get a better understanding of what you can expect from your major. You deserve to be happy
Yeah, yeah ,yeah happiness does not pay the bills, but life is way too to be working full time in an industry that you could care less about.
