Have you ever walked along the sidewalk in late Fall and while seeing a plethora of leaves on the ground, one thing you may also see is leaf imprints. These are one of my favorite things that Fall brings other than pumpkins and fall hikes. Behind these beautiful copies of leafs on the sidewalk, lies a beautiful sample of imagery.
In our life, we will and have met those people who have left and will leave an imprint on our heart. You may only see these people once in a lifetime, but that one meeting will leave the biggest impression on you.
I thank God for these unexpected meetings as I believe that everyone we meet, good and bad, we meet for a reason. The most memorable meeting for me, just so happened to be on a plane. I was flying home from studying abroad last minute due to a family emergency. I had never flown by myself, let alone across an ocean. Not going to lie, I was scared out of my mind. However, thanks to angels watching over me, I ran into the nicest people. I get on the plane and sit down for the 7 hour flight. A little nervous as to who I was going to be sitting by, this young gentlemen sits down and rather than sitting down and plugging in his ear buds and snoozing like most people do on international flights, he turned to me and shook my hand and introduced himself. Other than the couple times that either of us fell asleep, we talked the entire time about countless topics. After getting off the plane, we said goodbye and parted our separate ways. However, this person left an imprint on my heart because he not only was kind, but because of his friendly manner and the amazing conversations that were had, I temporarily forgot about all of my worries that that day carried.
Meeting new people may seem like a daunting and frightening task, however, people are beautiful creatures and we each have a story. Granted some more exciting than others, however, it’s not their stories, it is their outlook on life. Sometimes staring at life through someone else’s glasses helps you see life in a different way.
Next time you are nervous about what may lay ahead, just talk to the nearest person by you, you never know what that conversation could lead to. I guess what I am trying to get at is, NEVER underestimate the power of your words. Your words have the power to build someone up or tear someone down. They have the ability to help someone chase their dreams and they have the ability to inspire them. If you are lucky, they may even have the ability to leave an imprint on someone’s heart and lead them to do great things.
