During my freshman year of college, I would sleep in until about noon and go to class. Overall, waking up late was not doing me any justice. Now going into my second year of college, I have a part-time job and take 15 credit hours each semester. The only way I find myself accomplishing so much in my day is by waking up early. If I continued to wake up at noon everyday, I doubt I would have been able to accomplish my academic goals.
In order to make myself wake up early, I set multiple alarms. I literally mean an alarm every five minutes at least thirty minutes prior to my wake up time. I'm positive my neighbor hates me because all of the siren alarms. When I wake up early, I have more time in my day for everything. I even have time to clock in more hours which makes my bank account happy. Now, I love being a morning person.
Forcing myself to wake up at 7:00 a.m. has not been easy but it's rewarding when I think about it. I usually start my day off when a list of to-do's I had written out the day before. I typically write these things on both my white board on my fridge and planner. I love knowing that I can accomplish everything on my list because I have more day and night time to get them all finish. Before I was a morning person, I would find myself constantly pushing back due dates and little to-do's such a laundry and cleaning. Now, I find myself finishing assignments at least a week before their due date and always having clean clothes and clean apartment.
Not only to I love being a morning person because I have more time in the day but because I can make myself breakfast. When I say breakfast I don't mean a granola bar, I mean a health breakfast of eggs, sausage, and waffles. It is an amazing feeling going to class and work with a full stomach, I no longer have to worry about being that person with a growling tummy in class. If I eat a big breakfast 7-8 a.m., I don't find myself hungry till about 3 p.m.- which is pretty awesome. Before I would grab a granola bar before catching the bus and find myself going through five of them in a day. Not only am I saving all my granola bars by eating a solid breakfast, but I'm eating healthier.
If you're a college student, you know how awful our diets can be. Plus, living on campus doesn't make it any easier with the quickness of Pizza Hut and Chick-Fil-A. Making sure you have a big breakfast in the morning refrains you from from snacking on unhealthy options. Waking up in the morning and setting up a meal plan for the day and week will help you maintain a healthy diet.
Lastly, being a morning person makes you happy. There is no better feeling in the world than waking up in the morning to some coffee and a list of accomplishments to make. The feeling if being productive is rewarding because you're not on your bed watching tv, you're out getting things done. If you want to feel more positive and accomplished, I highly suggest being a morning person.
