In today's society, it's honestly difficult to look in the mirror and love what you see. But, I'm here to tell you that you deserve to love yourself regardless of what you feel like and think when you look in the mirror.
You are the ONLY you.
Out of the 7 billion and some human beings on this planet, there is only ONE single you. That means that no one else in this world has your looks, with your personality, your heart, your characteristics and traits or your DNA. Some will say that being just 1 out of 7 billion makes you pretty much a nobody. But I think it's something to celebrate! Being the only one out of 7 billion people to be you, makes you pretty special and unique. Embrace it!
Looks Aren't Everything
Todays' society puts so much pressure on people (especially women) to be drop dead gorgeous, skinny and flawless. We see it on TV, in magazines, and in advertisements. But when you look in the mirror and see the furthest thing from that, you look down upon yourself. Stop doing that. You are so much more than your outside appearance and if we were to judge ourselves based on our looks (instead of our happiness), then we would never be truly satisfied. I promise you that looks aren't everything. People are more interested to know what you are made of on the inside rather than what your body looks like from the outside.
Your Self image is different
The way people view you is completely different than the way you view yourself. You tend to be much harder on yourself than you need to be. Cut yourself some slack and stop being so hard on yourself. Appreciate you for who you really are. Stop trying to conform to society's image of a confident and beautiful person. Create your own realistic image and show it off.
You are so much more than you think you are
You wake up everyday in the same body so you are used to yourself. You don't get to fully appreciate how awesome you are from an outside view. You just get to be awesome! But to other people, you are a beautiful human being from top to bottom and from the inside to the out. Your friends, family, coworkers and neighbors are the outsiders who have the opportunity to get to know you and appreciate you for who you are. They get to experience your friendship, unlike you. So when someone tells you that you are beautiful, awesome, strong or brave..you better believe them.
My wish is for women (and men) to stop trying so hard to conform themselves to imitate the images of the models and people they see in the media and to start being themselves. You will be much happier once you stop comparing yourself and start loving the body God gave you. After all, it is the only body we have (and we're stuck with it for life) so we should learn to love it! :-)
