“And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.”
-The Beatles
Someone once told me, “You love people too much.”
Someone once told me, “It is crazy how much you love people.”
Someone once told me, “Maybe you shouldn’t give your love to people so easily.”
Ha.
That is false.
How can one love others too much? How is love a crazy thing? How can loving others be anything but easy?
The world is full of too much apathy, too much of people holding back, too many "what ifs," and too many words left unsaid. We are all in this together. We all want to live a good life. We are not competing against each other—I hope we all make it.
I hope that YOU, whoever you are, wakes up each morning wearing your heart on your sleeve. I hope that you wake up with a full heart. I hope that you wake up brimming over with love. I hope you wake up and realize how loved you are.
Now trust me, I get that not every day can be wonderful. I understand that there will be days where all you want to do is crawl back into bed, fall back asleep, and wait for tomorrow. That is perfectly fine. On those days, allow the people who you have so freely loved to return the favor. Allow them to shower you with back rubs, ice cream, coffee, cuddles, and whatever else tickles your fancy. Or practice some self-love—everyone could use some more of that *snaps*
But, regardless of the day, regardless of the highs and lows, regardless of the start of the week or the beginning of the weekend, always come back to love.
Come back to it on days when all you want to do is cry. Come back to it after long phone called with dear friends. Come back to it on cozy nights spent watching movies. Come back to it after going through heartbreak. Come back to it after a fight with a friend. Come back to it when you are so happy your heart could burst. Come back to it when you feel like your world is falling apart. Come back to it when it feels like there is no love to be had. Come back to it when you see your little sister for the first time in months. Come back to it on a warm summer’s day. Come back to it on long nights. Come back to it on moonlit drives. Come back to it—always.
Please.
This is your only life. Make it burst at the seams with love. You can start right NOW. Go tell someone how much you love them. Call your parents, siblings, friends, boss, dog, ANYONE--right now, in this very moment, and just tell them how much they mean to you. Tell them how loved they are.
Please, please, please.
Be a person that makes it impossible for people to feel unloved.
Love wildly.
