Why You Should Go To Riot Fest

Calling all music lovers.

Why You Should Go To Riot Fest

This past weekend, I attended a nationwide music festival called Riot Fest. I went to the one in Chicago, so I will base my experience on this specific venue. Riot Fest: Chicago is a multi-day music festival and carnival that is sure to bring out your inner music soul and your kid at heart.

If you have a love for all things music or just an adventurous nature, join me for a ride down this rocking rollercoaster called Riot Fest.

You Get To Experience a Diverse Music Culture

Riot Fest hosts shows in many varieties such as punk, rock, alternative, metal, and hip-hop. With each new genre comes a new style, and people go all out. It’s so uplifting to see people come out and be invested in music. It’s nice that we can all put our musical differences aside and come together for this festival, yet still wear the outfits of our people.

The Talent Ranges

In Chicago, we got to see Tenacious D, Snoop Dogg, Modest Mouse, New Politics, and many other bands. Popularity ranged from local to global. This made it fun to go without a plan. To follow the music and see where it takes you.

There’s a Carnival for Grown-Ups

It’s your chance to experience a carnival just like the good old days, but with people your same age. No more secretly feeling lame for waiting in line behind a 10-year-old at the Ferris Wheel. And there are good food vendors for the whole fair experience. So, go enjoy that elephant ear!

You Get to Travel to a New City

Or at least experience another side of it. I had never been to Chicago, so we made sure to take some time out to see the city itself. I was thrilled that I not only got to discover a new festival for myself, but also a new place in this world. Riot Fest is also held in Denver and Toronto for whichever way your compass points.

You Can Let Go

Be yourself. Dance like no one is watching (cause no one really is.) It astounded me how little everyone cares what people are thinking. Everyone just lets the music take them, and it’s an incredible thing to experience. Go with the one you love or with the friends you love and you are sure to see a happier, more fun version of them at this festival.

It Is Fun

Who doesn't want to spend a weekend in a big city with lots of music, junk food, and carnival rides? Who doesn't love the idea of letting loose from your busy life to experience something new? Despite the chaos of four bands playing at once, it feels like it’s where you're supposed to be in that moment. You can see a new side of yourself and enjoy a side of life that you might not get to very often.

Riot Fest isn't a concert, it’s a festival. It’s for the music lovers and the curious. If this sounds like you, join me next year in Chicago. It’ll be (wait for it) a riot, indeed.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour
StableDiffusion

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
