As I finish up my final month as the Editor in Chief for IU East, I can't help but reflect positively on these past six months. I applied on a whim. I had always been interested in editing and writing, but I didn't know where to start. This position gave me the stepping stone I needed to start what i hope to turn into a career.
It has been a valuable experience. Not only have i learned things like how to recruit, interview people, and manage a team but I was also given the chance to connect with people from my school. Our IU East team is a little family comprised of like-minded people who all have a passion for writing and want to be heard. Joining Odyssey either as an editor like myself or a content creator will connect you with people who have the same passion and drive as you.
In my six month span as the editor for IU East, I have learned a lot, met new people, and have grown as a person. If you are looking to push yourself and further your ability as a writer and an editor, take the leap and join the team. I promise you won't regret it.
