An Experience That Will Last A Life Time

Why You Should Attend A Music Festival At Least Once In Your Life
Scott Brady

I've only been to four music festivals, but I consider that enough to call myself a festival veteran. I've experienced some things that many people will never get a chance to do and the memories will last longer than these pictures. Here are 13 reasons why you should attend a music festival at least once in your life:

1. You Never Know Who Or What You Will See

Although not everyone will, a majority of music festival attendees will get creative in their costumes, totems and accessories that they carry with them. Whether it's funny, political, or just down right awesome, expect that you will see something you didn't expect to see.

2. You Will Find Local Talent Among The Crowds Of People

Hula hoops, gloves, orbit lights, poi, glow sticks- If there's a way to make it light up, you will find someone willing to give you a personalized light show in the middle of the festival. You can find some amazing flow artists; you just have to look around!

Bonus Tip: Invest in some light diffraction glasses to intensify any light show!

3. The Visuals Are Incredible

Light shows from flow artists are amazing, but there's nothing like seeing the trippy effects going on behind the music acts. When you already love the music that's being played, the lights and screens will only make it better!

4. You'll Get To Take Pictures With Some Real Characters

The attendees aren't the only ones walking around in costumes!

5. No, Really... You'll Take Some WEIRD Pictures...

Note: If you're going to wear a shirt with a funny saying, you have to make sure you can live by what it says.

6. You May Also Get To Take A Selfie With A Local Celebrity

Big Freedia is a New Orleans Bounce artist that is known all over the country (she also makes some really awesome soul food!). When else would I have had the opportunity?

7. You'll Get To Share Intimate Moments With Huge Crowds

Music is something we can use to connect to each other with. There is no other feeling like singing the words of one of your favorite songs with a few thousand other people.

8. You'll Be A Part Of Something That Is Much Bigger Than You Think

It's not really a "one in a million," type of opportunity...

9. No, MUCH BIGGER...

...it's more like a "one in 15,000," type of opportunity.

10. You Won't See What Will Be Flying Your Way Next

You don't always have a giant, inflatable slice of pizza thrown at you. Embrace it.

Side Note: The real food at music festivals is usually pretty good too!

11. You Will See Beautiful Parts Of Cities You Haven't Seen Before

I live close enough to New Orleans that I could go to the city whenever I want, but never really do. The Mississippi River and Crescent City Connection look absolutely gorgeous at night, but I never would have known that without attending the Buku Music and Art Project.

12. You Can Go Alone And Still Have An Amazing Time!

You'll absolutely love it! The people are always nice, and will accept you for whoever you choose to be!

13. You'll Love It So Much That You'll Want To Bring A Friend The Next Year

Maybe you can come with me next year?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
