There's something special and different about having a guy best friend that's simply unexplainable. Sometimes it's even a more comfortable relationship than the one you have with your best girl friends because you can balance each other out. Your friendship can come off annoying and adorable at the same time, and at some point people have definitely told you that you should date or are going to get married one day. While you're apart at different schools there's a void that you try to fill with texts and phone calls, but nothing compares to when you go to visit each other's schools or see each other over breaks. Overall, your guy best friend is one in a million and you miss him because ...
He's funny
He never fails to make you feel better
He's protective
He will always be there to take to a dance or event when you don't have a date
He knows how to be nice to girls
He tells it to you straight
He won't cause any drama
He's the one guy who you don't have to be nervous around
He won't judge you when you go out for lunch and order messy or unhealthy food rather than a salad
He can translate texts from the guy you're talking to
He'll be your wingman (if you return the favor)
He can talk sports with you
He's a great listener
He has no filter
He treats you like one of the guys but still knows when to treat you like a girl
He will actually want to chill while watching Netflix
He will keep your secrets
He will jam out in the car with you
He has become part of your family
He gives the best hugs
He can give a guy's perspective on a situation
He makes the effort to keep in touch and all of your friends look forward to his FaceTime calls
He sets an example for how a guy should treat you
He gives you a hard time but only because he has your best interests at heart
He loves you for who you are
He is overall just the best friend you could ever have
You most likely have the urge to call your guy best friend right about now, so go for it. Thank them for always being there for you, accepting who you are, and tell them how much you miss them.
Shoutout to the guy who poured a bucket of water on me during the summer of sixth grade, nine years ago, and has been my best friend ever since.
