The University of Mary Washington, located in Fredericksburg, Virginia, is waiting for you! In about a month, I will have completed by first year at the University of Mary Washington. Like at any college, there have been ups and there have been downs. If you're on the fence about UMW and another school, choose UMW. These reasons below will reassure your decision, I promise.

1. It is a small, tight-knit community that cares about their students more than most other colleges or universities do.

2. It has the prettiest landscape and scenery I have ever seen on a college campus.

3. The campus is very user-friendly, and is very difficult to get lost in.

4. The food is actually good! (For college food at least) Options range from Hamburgers to stir fry. We also have a gelato bar for all of you ice cream lovers!

5. We play bingo on Tuesday nights! What more would you want but to get to win free stuff like food, crock pots, iPod speakers and much, much more. Plus, there are many jokes that go along with the numbers such as "B1" and "O69".

6. Your professors get to know you personally and want to see you succeed! Almost all of my professors know my name.

7. No one cares about your appearance. You can wear sweatpants and a t-shirt, or go all out and make yourself look like Regina George. But, no one is going to comment on your looks like they did in grade school.

8. In the fall and spring, hammocks and Eno's are up everywhere around campus. Just, please, be careful.

9. Technically, we don't have any Greek life on campus, but... at the same time, we do, and they throw the best parties.

10. Everything is in walking distance. The grocery store, the coffee shop, the Dollar General for all us broke college students, the sports bar, the enormous mall, etc. But always make friends with a commuter student or a person with a car because laziness gets real.

11. There are hundreds of clubs that you can join from the Parkour Club to the Young Life club.

12. In the winter, free hot chocolate is available on the freezing cold mornings you would rather hibernate under all your blankets than get up to go to class.

13. You definitely will meet people that, I promise, you will know for the rest of your life.

14. The WiFi is strong enough to stream all your favorite shows on Netflix for all of those "Friends" binge watching sessions.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
