We are told at a young age to work hard for what we want. We are raised in a culture of set your goal on something and do everything you can to accomplish it. Now as we enter "adulthood" those values we learned at a young age are a reality. Working hard is important for all men and women. Some people say "Wow, you're so crazy you work so much," but thats just who I am as a person. Being a hard worked is one of my favorite qualities about myself. Here are four reasons why I work so hard:
1. I am a strong independent woman:
I work so hard because I want to accomplish things myself, I do not need a man to justify any of my accomplishments. When I graduate from college I want to be able to say that I got myself I job, I make a living for myself and I did this. Yes, I sound annoying BUT it is 2016 and we all need to look out for ourselves. There is no "ring before spring" mindset anymore. For those of you who do not know what it means, this expression was used years ago for women who wanted to get engaged before graduating college. NO. As young women we all need to put in the time, work hard, take internships and build up our resumes for after graduation.
2. I was raised this way:
I work so hard because both of my parents and my step parents are hard workers. They take extra shifts when they are asked, they do their best at work everyday and are constantly growing in each of their professional fields. They had me start babysitting when I was 14 and I got my first real job at 16. Since then I have been working all the time and always trying to advance myself. Being raised in a house of hard workers has helped me grow both professionally and personally.
3. I like things and experiences:
I work so hard because things cost money. Clothes, electronics and adventures all require you to spend money. The other day I took a 17 hour shift simply because I wanted to go shopping next week. While I am not condoning that at all (because it sucked) it is important to budget your money. If you like to go on trips and adventures then you have to be able to justify those expenses by working extra. Work hard so that you can enjoy the fruit of your labor (literally).
4. For the I told you so:
I work so hard because no matter what you will get rejected by a job at some point and I want to be able to say "I told you I could do it." There are always going to be the doubters and the non supports but that should be your motivation to work even harder. A few months ago I was fired from a job that I loved and it was absolutely devastating. Eventually I picked myself back up and began to work even harder so that it would never happen to me again. One day I am going to go back to the boss and tell them I knew that I was going to make it and I freaking did it! Remember that even if you get rejected from a job or get fired that when one door closes another one opens.
