hello 2018, it’s nice to meet you. I promise to try harder this year as long as you’re not too hard on me.

most people say “I want to lose weight!” “I want to get a new job!” this year? I don’t want that.

I want freedom and peace of mind. I want to hike new trails and read more books. I want to live with flowers in my hair and an open heart. I want to meet new people from all over the world, and I want to experience life as they do.

I want to fall in love in purely platonic ways, I want to stay up until six a.m. with my friends while we laugh over things we did, or want to do, or plan our futures & how we need life to play out for us. I want to drive, with the ocean on either side of me, screaming every word to that one song from the disney movie none of us remember.

I want to explore in every sense of the word. I want to see places I used to only dream of, call up my old friends and just make sure they're okay.

I want to learn, new languages, new concepts, new philosophies and ideologies. I want to study & understand things on a level I’ve never bothered to before. I want to better myself, the world around me, the people around me. I want to change the world, it doesn’t matter how small my contribution is, but I will change the world.

I want to experience the feeling of flight. I want to fall from high places and be caught at the last second, right before I hit the ground. I want to be terrified in the greatest of ways. I want to be truly happy.

2018 I trust that you’ll be nothing but good vibes all round.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
