Any real "NCIS" fan was truly depressed at the end of this season's finale. Everyone expects some sort of plot twist or dramatic event, but most of the time we don't know for sure what will happen. Coming it the finale this week though, everyone was aware that Tony Dinozzo was about to appear on his last episode of "NCIS." Regardless of this knowledge coming into the episode, it was still very sad to witness his final moments with his team. Here's 10 reasons that all "NCIS" viewers will miss Tony Dinozzo.
1. The ridiculous nicknames he came up with
It was always fun to keep track of the different nicknames he came up with for Agent McGee: McTective, McNerd, McGPS, etc. His nicknames for Ziva were just as good: Mossad Hunting Dog
2. The movie references
Whenever a situation was grim, Tony was able to lighten the mood by throwing in a movie quote. Repeating “blood” in a creepy voice in reference to the movie “Psycho” was probably his funnier reference. And everyone couldn’t help but laugh when he lost his voice and was unable to correct the team on their incorrect movie references.
3. His charm
Pretty sure the picture says it all. Tony looked darn good in a tux, and when he wanted to, he could say the most heart-melting things ever. We’re going to miss his charm and smooth-talking ways.
4. Ability to do something stupid around Gibbs
Ah the Gibbs slap. Something that Tony always managed to bring about because he was doing something stupid. The fact that he never learned to watch what he said around Gibbs made us love him even more.
5. Witty banter
This could go hand-in-hand with the nicknames and movie references that I mentioned earlier. He always had a sarcastic comment at hand. His favorite go-to was in reference to Ziva’s inability to understand English slang and sayings. Plus, he was normally pretty quick on the draw when it came to something snappy to say if he was in a bad mood. No one could out-sass this special agent.
6. His special agent status
Correction: his very-special-agent status. Everyone in "NCIS" was technically a special agent, but only Dinozzo felt the need to identify himself as a very special one. When he gave this title over to McGee in his finale episode, my heart broke a little because that was always his special title that no one could take away.
7. His playboy nature
Most times, playboys are annoying. They know their good looking and they never fail to remind people of it. For some reason though, Tony always managed to pull of the playboy persona. He bragged about it occasionally, but it was never obnoxious. Plus, it was always funny when he thought he was hitting it off with a girl and then failed at it.
8. Tiva
It didn't take long for viewers to start shipping Tony and Ziva. There was always an obvious connection between the two and it just grew stronger throughout the seasons. He was willing to put his own future in peril just to help Ziva out. It was true love, which everyone one day hoped would become something real.
9. His goldfish
No one expected Tony to have animals and when viewers learned that he had a fish named Kate our hearts swooned. We all missed Kate and apparently so did Tony. When he later got another one, which he named Ziva, we were even more in love with him. It shows not only his devotion to the two women he cared about most, but also was a representation of his love for his team. When he lost them, he couldn't bear to forget so he honored their memories by naming fish after them. It's a little odd, but adorable nonetheless.
10. His commitment to family
In the end, Tony chose to leave "NCIS" for the most important thing ever: family. When he found out that he and Ziva had a child together, he had every right to back out. Tali could have gone to another family member. Instead, he chose to step up and become the father that Tali needed and that Ziva would have wanted him to be. He gave up everything for his new family.
When I learned that Tony was leaving "NCIS," I was devistated. We had already lost Ziva, and now we were losing another beloved character, one who has been a part of the show since the beginning. After watching the finale, I admire the decision, but am still saddened. The show will never be the same and I'm sure everyone will miss this very special agent.
